Setting up a new habit

Setting up a new habit is challenging work. A habit is an act you do almost automatically, even without thinking about it. How could you change something you regularly do on auto -pilot mode?

Carol is a woman that enjoys life after suffering from endometriosis for a long time. The 51-year-old woman has good physical and mental health – and she got rid of chronic pains due to her former condition – because she made up her mind. Carol decided she would not endure those pains, tried herbal remedies and procedures, spiritual solutions, and changed her diet. It has been six weeks since Carol can swim a kilometer a day. She says meditating, emotional healing – the spiritual side of her journey to a pain-free life – eliminating processed food and eating healthy have allowed her to enjoy the presentmoment.Thosenewhabitsofferhera stress-freeeverydaylife.Buthernewfoundpeace was not easy to achieve. She testifies that she would not have thought she would stick to such a change and stay committed to her new habits. The secret behind her success is her resilience.

Resilience is toughness, the capacity to recover from difficulties. It is also your degree of adjustment, of flexibility. A resilient individual withstands adversity. He or she talks to oneself positively. For instance, if you want to lose weight, you will speak life over your situation: “I will be fit,” “I am going to achieve my goal,” “I will control the portions I eat,” etc. Reaching your goals depends on your mindset because it frames our habit and the way you feel. Paying attention to feelings is crucial when it comes to setting a habit up in your daily routine. Your brain will easily accept something that makes you feel great, at ease. However, the road to your new haven is no bliss. Some days y ou will lack motivation and enthusiasm; that is where your resilience comes into play. One way to trigger your resilience is to talk to your inner self. Even when you do not see anything changing, your tongue has tremendous power to rectify your reality. The words you speak will affect your mindset and motivate you. Your story will go from “I have trouble managing this, it is tough, I do not enjoy the process” to “I am more than enough, I am disciplined, I made it.”

The story you tell yourself matters, so do yourself a favor and be a good storyteller, narrate a positive story to your mind. The only entailed risk is to surprise yourself. Your present reality does not have to block you. Speak the new life you want to experience and stick to it. Reboot your mindset to install a habit by changing the way you see yourself. And do not forget you have to do it no matter how you feel:

  • Speak life when you are happy.

  • Speak life when you do not feel like you want to speak joy.

  • Speak positively to you all the time. Your new habit is a word away from you.
